* Enterprise Application Integration † Co-financed by FONACIT through the S1-2001000792 Abstract Software integration has been a solution to the problem of connecting dissimilar systems for many years. This integration is still a challenging issue. EAI (Enterprise Application Integration) is defined as the process of integrating enterprise systems with existing applications. Since software integration research has yielded a variety of different concepts, we survey and discuss this terminology. EAI arise as an evolution of the CASE technology approach. The main goal of this work is the modeling of EAI in order to obtain a more organized and unified view of the main aspects involved. The EAI model presented in this work was constructed extending the known Brown’s Conceptual Model of Integration (BCMI). One of the interesting contributions of this paper are the identification of architectural styles and patterns and the specification of a quality model, based on the international standard ISO 9126-1 for integrated enterprise systems. This quality model specifies the quality characteristics that the systems in the EAI domain should hold.

Pattern Based Analysis of Eai Languages - The Case of the Business Modeling Language

Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) is a challenging area that is attracting growing attention from the software industry and the research community. A landscape of languages and techniques for EAI has emerged and is continuously being enriched with new proposals from different software vendors and coalitions. However, little or no effort has been dedicated to systematically evaluate and c...

Comparison of EAI Frameworks

EAI (Enterprise Application Integration) is defined as the set of plans, methods and tools aimed at modernizing, consolidating, integrating and coordinating information systems within an enterprise. An EAI Framework (EAIF) is presented to provide sound and unified definitions of the modeling elements involved in the EAI approach. The goal of this work is to compare EAIF with other widely accept...

Integration of streaming and elastic traffic: Modeling and Performance Analysis

We study a flow-level model where elastic flows compete with fixed-rate streaming flows. We assume that streaming flows are served with priority, the remaining bandwidth being shared by elastic flows according to Balanced Fairness. We derive exact performance results for streaming flows, and propose performance approximations for elastic flows. Simulation results show that the relevant performa...

Univariate Interpolation-based Modeling of Power and Performance

Performance and power scale non-linearly with device utilization, making characterization and prediction of energy efficiency at a given load level a challenging issue. A common approach to address this problem is the creation of power or performance state tables for a pre-measured subset of all possible system states. Approaches to determine performance and power for a state not included in th...
